Lay Preacher Certificates
Lay Preacher Candidates who have completed the required training courses and formation weekend receive a blue-bordered Certificate of Lay Preacher Studies from the Centre for Theology and Ministry (CTM). This certificate may be presented at an appropriate event such as the Lay Preacher Formation Weekend or Lay Ministries Weekend, or if such an opportunity is not available other options may be explored. These certificates are produced by the CTM upon the approval of the Lay Leadership Educuator and the Lay Ministries Reference Committee, and indicate completion of the studies for lay preacher candidates.
Lay Preacher Candidates who have completed the Certificate in Lay Preacher Studies and have undertaken the required number of worship services for assessment may then apply to their presbytery for accreditation (Reg 2.8.6). If accepted for accreditation Lay Preachers recieve a red-and-black Lay Preacher certificate from their presbytery, which indicates their accreditation as a Lay Preacher within the Uniting Church in Australia. These certificates are available to presbyteries through Uniting Church Resources (located within the CTM) or MediaCom (located in Adelaide).
