Benalla Lay Ministry Intensives offer introductory level study in four foundational theological study areas: New Testament, Old Testament, Theology and Theology of Jesus Christ (Christology). They also include practical training in worship leadership and preaching. Completion of these four Intensives at a satisfactory level will meet the study requirements for Lay Preacher accreditation.
- In this intensive you will be invited to reflect on and express a Christian understanding of God and faith. You will:
- Discuss key doctrines of the Christian faith and core beliefs of the Uniting Church
- Talk about God and the Church in light of Scripture and the received tradition of the church (with a focus on the Basis of Union)
- Explore issues of Christian faith from different perspectives
- Demonstrate a growing capacity to articulate your own theological understandings
- Use theological tools in preparing sermons
- Use and adapt worship resources for local contexts
- Make supportive connections with other lay people seeking to expand their understanding of the Christian faith
- Attain credit towards a Lay Preacher Studies Certificate (if desired)
- Have fun learning together
This intensive will also be offered at Horsham (6-8 Aug & 10-12 Sept) and Benalla (3-5 Sept & 1-3 Oct).
